LEARNING COMMUNITIES

What current PLCs are in action?

Transforming Students into Learners - PLC

What is it?
Cross-district learning communities provide opportunities for role-similar professionals to
deepen their learning and strengthen their ability to support change efforts within their district. Participants in cross-district Learning Communities will come together in person 4-10 days during the year focused around a specific topic.

Who should participate?
- Instructional coaches
- Professional development staff
- Teacher leaders
- Other instructional leaders to include administrators
- Higher education faculty

Around what topics will cross-district learning communities be focused?

- Clarifying learning
- Using quality and common assessment to support learning
- Using classroom assessment to help learners take responsibility for their own learning process

What is the benefit?

- Access to and support using training materials
- Web-supported training and resources
- Mentors from whom you can receive just-in-time support

In which learning community should we participate?
Communities will be topic-focused. Ask yourself and potential participants…Will the focused work and support help you implement and achieve your goals? How will this community assist you in developing new leadership and specific content skills?

What is the cost of this service?
Cross-District Learning Community participants will pay a fee of $150—$450 for each community they join. Cost is determined by the number of meeting days and the length of each meeting.

Location
Locations are based on who participant locations. They may be hosted throughout the state at regional, district, or school sites. Sufficient numbers must be generated to support costs.
