CTLT is sustaining and building on the work done by the
Colorado Consortium for Data-Driven Decisions, a five-year grant project funded
with NCLB money in Title IID through CDE’s E2T2 funds to support IBEP (Information-Based Educational Practice). With that mouthful out of the way, let’s
talk about the future!
With a tag line of “Advancing 21st century standards-based
practices,” CTLT takes the work of C2D3 in the arena of information-based educational
practice and transforms it into 21st century standards-based practice. C2D3’s focus on
clarifying learning targets, quality
assessment, formative assessment practices
and processes and collaborative inquiry are
the backbone of standards-based instruction.
Understanding that co-creation of the next
generation of Colorado’s standards and
standards-based systems, utilizing the
expertise and experience of a variety of
stakeholder groups is an approach that both
builds on the current strengths of Colorado
and is consistent with the theoretical
underpinnings of standards-based education.
This co-creation process--get, merge, give,
get, and act has been a structure for C2D3’s
work and will continue to serve as a
framework for CTLT.
Co-creation
implies getting the best thinking and
resources currently available to those who
have them and need them. These include 1)
lessons learned, 2) products from districts,
schools and teachers and 3) input from
expert sources inside and outside the state.
Formative Assessment
"It's a
really good feeling to know that you have
some control over your education, that it is
not just in the fate of what you know and
what you don't know. It is what you are
going to do about it."
